As part of the initiative to fight crime in our communities, 20 Peace Officers have undergone the required training and received their accreditation at a graduation ceremony held at the Callie de Wet Hall in Robertson on 04 March 2021.

The graduation ceremony was opened by the Municipal Manager of Langeberg Municipality, Mr Albert de Klerk, followed with the keynote delivered by Minister for Community Safety, MEC Albert Fritz.

“The newly trained Peace Officers will contribute towards the Western Cape safety plan, the aim being to reduce violence and work closely with Law Enforcement officials and the South African Police Services,” says Minister for Community Safety, MEC Albert Fritz

“I am thankful for this programme that will move us towards a safer community, especially focussed on rural areas,” says Executive Mayor, Alderman Schalk van Eeden

The event ended with a drill exercise performance by the graduates.

This Public Safety Youth Training Programme was made possible through the Western Cape Safety Plan in partnership with the Department Community Safety and its local and district municipalities.

This SAQA accredited qualification is paving the way forward for graduates to further their career in law enforcement and provide increased chances of promotion and advancement in the field of safety and security.

These peace officers are now ready for deployment into the communities of Langeberg Municipality to focus on community safety and enforce municipal by-laws.
