The grant funding agreement to install electricity meters to over 3000 households in Thabazimbi was finalised in December 2016. Private and public entities were invited to participate in the Steering Committee and work on the project started in early 2017.
To date over 600 meters have been installed in the community and the project is progressing well. Despite supply chain challenges on the part of contractors the project is expected to be completed before June 2017. Meanwhile a project to install water meters throughout the community is in the final planning stages and a Project Steering Committee is likely to be appointed soon. Its anticipated that the water meter installations will begin once the electricity meter project have been completed.
