The Mayor of Midvaal Municipality, Cllr Bongani Baloyi has launched the Kgatelopele Youth Development Programme. This programme stems from one of the DA manifesto promises to response to the challenges of the youth of South Africa. To achieve this, the municipality committed itself to ensure that it utilises its resources and invests in the development and empowerment of the Youth.
The launch was by the Kgatelopele participants, their parents or legal guardian/s, local businesses and community members. The Executive Mayor called on parents to support their kids and motivate them throughout the programme. The Executive Mayor reiterated the importance of the programme and how the municipality intended to partner with young people to address service delivery challenges as social entrepreneurs. While the programme is not a paid job opportunity it is an opportunity for the participants to develop and empower themselves so that they can have the ability to create jobs and employ community members. The training will commence in February 2017 and run until the end of June 2017.
