The Stellenbosch Municipality has launched its annual “collect a can” campaign in conjunction with the Stellenbosch Feeding in Action scheme. This is the third year the program is being run and the organizers aim to collect 20-000 cans of food which will then be prepared and served as meals to the less fortunate.
Schools, universities and members of the public have been asked to participate and collection points will be provided at various points in the town including the municipal building.
Executive Mayor Gesie van Deventer launched the project by contributing the first tins of food. The Mayor also announced an inter-departmental challenge to see which department would contribute the most.
