- Welvanpas new 10Mℓ/day water purification plant:
The Civil works phase will be completed within one month, thereafter the mechanical and electrical phase will commence. The total project cost will be R62 million. The end result will be a water source that will sell water at a lower price than is currently available from Cape Town. The works is designed to provide water to Wellington and Mbekweni. Completion of the project is scheduled for February 2018.
- 11 Megaliter Welvanpas Second Reservoir:
This second 11 Megaliter Newton reservoir has recently been completed and was designed to ensure that the Wellington and Mbekweni areas will have a water reserve of more than 48 hours, a vast improvement on the previous reserve of only 27 hours.
- 8 Megaliter Courtrai Reservoir:
This reservoir is being tested and will be commissioned soon. This Reservoir, together with other existing reservoirs, will provide close to 30Ml of purified water storage. This will ensure a 41 hour reserve of water.
- Newton – Leliefontein Booster Pumpstation:
The Civil Works will be completed in May 2017 and the mechanical and electrical contract is expected to be completed by January 2018. This booster pump station will provide water at 347 l/second and will supply Vlakkeland, Mbekweni and Wellington areas. The total cost is estimated at R41 million.
- Strawberry King Bulk Water Pipeline Replacement:
This four phase project is currently in its third phase and a total length of 14.5km of 1950 vintage asbestos pipe is being replaced. This pipeline will drastically reduce the risk of water supply interruption to Vlakkeland, Wellington and Mbekweni. The total cost is estimated at R120million.
- Windmeul Megaliter Reservoir, Water Pump Line and Booster Station:
This unit has been planned and designed and the first of five phases has been completed at a cost of R49 Million. This project will ensure a proper water supply to the villages of Slot and Windmeul.
