Easing traffic congestion: City to launch new 24-hour Traffic Hotline

On Thursday, 23 March 2017, Executive Mayor of Johannesburg, Cllr Herman Mashaba, and MMC for Public Safety, Cllr Michael Sun, will launch a new 24-hour Traffic Hotline in conjunction with the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD).

 The hotline will allow motorists to report vandalism, accidents, broken down vehicles, areas where traffic lights are down or areas where traffic is gridlocked.

 Emergency operators will log calls from the public and refer complaints to JMPD radio operators who will dispatch officers to the affected area.  

This is another proactive intervention taken by the City towards easing traffic congestion within the City.
