Mogale City Local Municipality’s Executive Mayor, Councillor Michael Holenstein, and his Mayoral Committee team, are currently embarking on the second leg of the 2017/ 2018 Mogale City Mayoral Integrated Development Plan (IDP) Road Show in Mogale City.
The IDP and Budget Road show is a process through which the municipality prepares a strategic development plan, which is primarily the principal strategic instrument guiding all planning, management, investment, development and implementation decisions, taking into account input from all stakeholders groups across Mogale City.

The Executive Mayor will traverse Mogale City to give feedback on the past, current and future programmes and projects that the city has undertaken and plans to undertake in future. All of these are aligned to actual budget allocations.
In terms of section 21(1)(a) of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act 32 of 2000, the Mogale City Local Municipality will hold public participation meetings as part of the annual review of its IDP and budget compilation process as per the schedule provided.
There are six main reasons why a municipality should have an IDP:
- It helps to speed up delivery
- It helps to attract additional funds
- It strengthens democracy
- It helps to overcome the legacy of apartheid
- It promotes coordination between local, provincial and national government
