Making the DA manifesto accessible and available to all

11 May 2017 in Where We Govern

The Breede Valley Municipality recently handed over a Braille copy of the Democratic Alliance Manifesto to the residents and staff of Kaleidoscope SA in Worster. Previously known as the Institute for the Blind, Kaleidoscope is a non-profit organization that caters for the all-inclusive needs of more than 3000 visually impaired persons, including visually impaired persons with additional disabilities.

The DA is committed to promoting freedom, fairness and opportunities for all South Africans and recognizes the set of challenges facing the visually impaired community. As such the DA is determined to find as many solutions as possible to ensure inclusivity and embrace diversity.

The Braille Manifesto will be available for everyone at Kaleidoscope where visually impaired persons of all ages are empowered through the provision of education, training, care, employment, development and accommodation.

The executive Mayor of the Breede Valley Municipality, Antoinette Steyn, said that the access to information that most people took for granted should be extended to all of South Africa’s citizens.

The DA municipality is proud to be able to play a role in Kaleidoscope’s mission to change people’s perceptions and show them how the blind can become leaders in this world, integrating into the workforce, society and everything in-between.
