The Western Cape Government has approved the Knysna Municipality’s rubble waste disposal site on privately owned land off the Simola / Blarricum Heights road for the next six months to temporarily store building rubble resulting from the emergency situation that related to fires in early June. The municipality has requested permission to have this builder’s waste material crushed on site.

It is important to note that no hazardous materials, such as chemicals and asbestos will be allowed to be dumped on this site.

The tip can be accessed from three different directions. The Eastern Access allows motorists to take the Simola Hotel turn-off from the N2 and follow the road until it becomes a dirt road. The tip site is 575m on the left-hand side along the gravel road.

For the Southern access, motorists travel up Grey Street and follow the tar road until its end. The tip site is 6kms along the dirt road on the right.

And finally for the Eastern access, motorists must turn onto the Uniondale road at Kayalethu and follow the road for 2.5kms through Kayelethu until it becomes a dirt road. They then take the first left and follow the road for 7kms, the tip site is on the right.
