The Johannesburg Metro Police Department is out in full force together with other law enforcement agencies to deal with the illegal taxi blockade on all major routes in and around Johannesburg.
Johannesburg Metro Police have been deployed within the greater Midrand area where congestion has affected the exits on Allendale, New Road and Oilfantsfontein, which has subsequently resulted in heavy delays on the N1 North and South.
JMPD officers have managed to restore traffic flow on Malibongwe and Northumberland, however, motorists are still urged to please use alternative routes and avoid these major intersections.
The Department of Public Safety will continue with traffic law enforcement and remove any vehicles blocking traffic. We will continue to monitor the situation.
