Over 150 residents of De Rust were presented with title deeds by the Oudtshoorn Municipality recently. Executive Mayor Colan Sylvester told the recipients that this was one of the most important documents they would ever possess.
The 93 year old Kaaitjie Maswati was proud to inform the Mayor on receiving her title deed that this was the first time in her life that she had a house that she could call her own.
The Executive Mayor reminded all recipients that the title deeds ensured not only a roof over their heads that belonged to them and that provided a permanent home, but it also meant that they had something they could pass on to their children. As such he advised the recipients to get a valid will in place to ensure that their homes could be passed on to loved ones.
