The City of Johannesburg is saddened by the burning of the Rea Vaya Bosmont station after a community service delivery protest in the surrounding area. The station has been so badly damaged that it cannot operate and will remain closed until further notice.

“The City condemns the violence, vandalism and burning of public infrastructure such as Rea Vaya stations, which are aimed at giving services to the public,” said MMC Makhuba, MMC for Transport in the City of Johannesburg.

I call upon the police to ensure that the responsible people face the full might of the law and urge community members to find amicable solutions to their service delivery issues and concerns,” she added.

Passengers who usually use the Bosmont Station will now need to use the Rea Vaya Industria West Station. F6 and F7 buses will also now connect to the trunk route at the Industria West Station.

This is the second time the Bosmont Station has been affected. In May this year, the station was damaged after community protests.

The City apologises to passengers for the delays caused by these bus diversions.
