The Executive Mayor, Councillor Bongani Baloyi visited the Sibonile school for the blind and visually impaired where he previously pledged to install fixed handrails at the school’s hall.
Visually impaired learners and staff are posed with a safety threat and precautionary measures as minimal as handrails are required. Mrs Lindiwe Mhlungu (school principal) opened the ceremony and later allowed a group of learners to perform a song for the Executive Mayor. The Executive Mayor addressed everyone in attendance about the Municipality’s vision and ambition to partner with schools in delivering quality education to our learners. The role of the municipality in assisting schools and in the appreciation of the school and staff members. Thereafter, the Executive Mayor and school Principal officially opened the handrails with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Executive Mayor thanked the school principal, teachers, nurses and management for their excellent work caring for our visually impaired and blind learners. He further committed himself to support the school and children with special needs across Midvaal.
