Msimanga administration continues to make Tshwane the fastest growing city in SA

23 Aug 2017 in Where We Govern

The Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality has maintained its position as the fastest growing metro for the past 20 years. The Msimanga administration continues this trend and is committed to taking the city to new heights as we embark on this journey to make Tshwane even more prosperous for its people.

According to the average annual growth rate (adjusted for inflation) as determined by IHS Global Insight, Tshwane surpassed other metros at 3.9% growth rate. This is also considerably well-above the national growth rate. This in comparison to City of Cape Town 3.0%; eThekwini 3.3%, Ekurhuleni 2.3%; City of Johannesburg 3.7%; Nelson Mandela Bay 2.3%; Mangaung 3.6% and Buffualo City at 2.1%.

Under the DA-led multi-party administration, the City of Tshwane is committed to developing an economic future that is prosperous and inclusive. To successfully realise this goal requires a strategic approach that identifies the very best growth opportunities.

To do this we have put in place a budget that is financially viable and that speaks directly to our IDP. Our budget is fully funded and balanced and is confirmation that we have heard the people of Tshwane and we are putting our money where our mouth is.

This is a demonstration of our commitment to making Tshwane a prosperous hub of opportunity, safety and sustainability.

The city is on course towards the development of a high-growth economy that is attractive to both domestic and foreign investors.

By working with captains of industries and assisting businesses to realise their true growth potential, this administration of Tshwane is fully geared towards positioning the city as the preferred destination for trade and investment.

To this end, we remain committed to investing heavily in economic infrastructure to provide a competitive business environment and ensure uninterrupted supply of municipal services.
