DA-led Tshwane makes 918 units available for gap housing opportunities

The DA-led Tshwane administration earlier this week announced that 918 new houses have been completed in Refilwe Manor, Fort West, Mamelodi, Zithobeni, Kudube and Zithobeni in the 2016/2017 financial year and will be allocated to qualifying beneficiaries in the near future.

During the elections campaign Mayor Solly Msimanga said adequate housing solutions, which provide individuals and families with a safe living environment, are necessary for reducing inequality and addressing poverty and joblessness.

“We cannot deny that access to decent housing, sanitation, affordable and sustainable electricity and water supply are paramount and should be our top priority. These are the basic elements required for our people to live a life of dignity.”

– Mayor Solly Msimanaga

Since taking over, the new administration has rolled up their sleeves, ensuring that service delivery commitments are realised.  This despite the financial challenges the City was faced with and the constant political interference from the opposition that could not accept electoral defeat.

“We remain resilient in championing the needs of our communities across the length and breadth of the city.  We will speed up the delivery of title deeds to state-subsidised housing so that recipients have legal ownership of their homes. We do this because we are serious about turning Tshwane into a prosperous, economically-viable and livable city.”

– Mayor Solly Msimanga
