Unruly ANC councillors stage walk out at the expense of 23 000 EPWP job opportunities

On the day that the Tshwane Council was meant to pass reports to employ 23 000 youth from poverty stricken families and the sale of the Mayoral Mansion, amongst others, the ANC caucus selfishly staged a walk out of Council meeting.

This they did under the pretext that EFF councilors were not present at Council.

Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Solly Msimanga, condemned this act for the callous political stunt that it is. ”The very same ANC councillors who claim to advocate for the needs of the communities have once again proven that they only have their own interests at heart, they have chosen to play politics at the expense of Tshwane residents. The public must know that on this day, when we wanted to uplift 23 000 poor families through our Extended Public Works Public Works Programme and the through the sale of the Mayoral Mansion, the ANC said NO”.

Referring to the food that was meant to be served at the daylong meeting Msimanga said “ the DA will not be part of wasteful expenditure. We will take the food, find a home and feed the homeless”.

The meeting was postponed due to council not reaching a quorum, with only 95 councillors in the house.

In any event the DA-led multi-party administration is committed to ensuring that our people get the services and opportunities they need.
