Knysna Motion of No Confidence

The Knysna Council voted last week to remove Peter Myers as deputy mayor through a motion of no confidence, following a total breakdown of the working relationship between Myers and the rest of the DA Caucus.

“It is regrettable that Councillor Meyers chose to make allegations against his fellow councillors and municipal officials in the media, instead of bringing his concerns to Council.”

Despite attempts by the ANC and some smaller parties to disrupt the proceedings of the council meeting and to derail the proper and legitimate processes, the DA and its voting partners were successful in retaining the positions of Mayor and Speaker of the Council.

The DA government remains resolute in promoting unity, transparency and governing well in the Knysna municipality building on the many successes achieved at the helm of the town.

As evident from the votes in council today the DA government stands strong and united and will not waiver in its commitment to serve all the people of Knysna.
