The unemployed youth in Bronkhorstspruit were given a helping hand by the City of Tshwane when the Member of the Mayoral Committee(MMC) responsible for Roads and Transport, Cllr Sheila Lynn Senkubuge, unveiled a free bus ride to the youth job seekers in the area today, 09 October 2017, as part of the pilot project to enable them to access job opportunities easier.
The city kick-started the programme with the provision of three busses which will service Kangala, Zithobeni and Rethabiseng townships until Thursday, 12 October 2017, this week. This morning more than 200 youth job seekers from the three townships took advantage of the city’s initiative to relieve them of the burden of travel costs.
“This milestone project coincides with the planned opening of the Black Royal Mine in Bronkhorstspruit which is expected to create about 100 job opportunities during its first phase. The mining company is conducting its staff recruitment drive in one of our regional offices in Bronkhorstspruit as part of the partnership between the mine and the City of Tshwane. We are availing our busses as part of our contribution to creating an enabling environment for economic growth,” said MMC Senkubuge.
“We are providing these busses for four days this week as part of our pilot project of which its data will be used to identify any challenges or any loose ends that need to be tied up before we roll it out to the rest of the city’s regions. The initiative will certainly play a massive role once the revitalization of Ekandastria, Babelegi and Ga-Rankuwa industrial parks is completed as more job opportunities will be created,” added Senkubuge.
The three busses will each run two trips from the respective townships to Bronkhorstspruit in the morning and take back the passengers in the afternoon
