Msimanga administration hands over more than 3000 title deeds to date

3078 beneficiaries received title deeds to their state-subsidised houses during a series of handover ceremonies led by the Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Solly Msimanga, and myself since assuming office.

As such, we are pleased that we have breached the halfway mark for the 6000 title deeds we vowed to handover for this financial year, 2017/18.

Just this past weekend I, on behalf of the Msimanga administration, handed over 274 title deeds to the rightful beneficiaries who have been allocated low cost houses in Olievenhoudtbosch.

The Msimanga administration is speeding up the delivery of title deeds to state-subsidised houses so that recipients have legal ownership of the property where they reside or operate businesses from. This provides homeowners with an important economic asset to leverage or their liberation from poverty.

Following the conferral, Executive Mayor Msimanga congratulated the new homeowners and urged them to take care of their properties. “You are now the sole and legal owner of the house being allocated and registered in your name. Home ownership is an exciting experience, as it restores pride, dignity and respect. The title deeds handed to you carry certain responsibilities and rights, obligations and duties that you must always meet and fulfil”.

“You are obliged to pay the municipality for basic services like water and electricity and other services and facilities provided in your area. The continued supply of these services requires regular payment. Although the municipality provides you with a certain amount of free basic water and electricity, the amount you pay for will vary according to your usage.” Added MMC Nkomo.

As per our electoral promise, the DA-led administration is also providing service stands, in communities with significant housing backlogs. Beneficiaries of serviced stands are also receiving title deeds and rudimentary services.
