The City of Cape Town is pleased to announce the successful signing of an agreement to provide training opportunities to EPWP workers in the electrification of the Pholile A and Sinyanyanzela informal settlements in Nomzamo.
This training will consist of:
- Pole climbing
- Installation of cable
- Installation of airdac
- Installation of ready boards
- Installation of pole boxes
A Certificate of Competence indicating training completed will be issued to each of the 21 EPWP workers from Siyanyanzela and 31 EPWP workers from Pholile A who participated.
Alsu Enterprises, the contractor, will provide the training on behalf of the City.
‘By including the local community in this project, we will maximise the impact of this work. Not only will the new electricity connections improve the living conditions of residents in these areas, but those participating in the project will be given the tools to further uplift themselves, and their families,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Area East, Councillor Anda Ntsodo.
‘This is in line with the City’s Organisational Development and Transformation Plan (ODTP) goals to be a responsive, proactive and customer-centric organisation and to work much more closely with communities in order to enhance service delivery,’ said Councillor Ntsodo.
