More residents of Saldanha Bay municipality will now be able to recycle their trash thanks to the expansion of the municipality’s “WeCare Recycle” programme.

Saldanha Bay municipality introduced the first phase of this programme – which involves a free weekly door-to-door recycling collection service – to the residents of Langebaan in 2017.

Phase 2 was rolled out in September 2018 and expanded this service to residents living in the towns of Paternoster, Vredenburg, Jacobsbaai and Hopefield.

The “WeCare-Recycle” programme is part of the municipality’s commitment to improving service delivery to ratepayers, creating employment for the community and keeping the West Coast clean, as the region’s natural beauty is what attracts thousands of tourists and visitors to the area annually.

Executive Mayor Marius Koen stated that he looks forward to rolling out this programme to the towns of St Helena Bay and Saldanha Bay in 2019.
