New sport field for the residents of Nkqubela

07 Mar 2019 in Where We Govern

The DA-led Langeberg municipality refurbished the sport field in Nkqubela after the original function and sport facility became dilapidated and vandalised.

After requests from councillors and community leaders, the municipality started a process to redevelop the unusable sport facility. Mayor Henry Jansen applied for Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) funding and was awarded R14 million. As the total costs of redeveloping the sport facility was R16 million, the municipality contributed the rest of the funding.

The sport field will be completed and ready for use in the first half of 2019, Mayor Henry Jansen stated that the sport field is a great facility for keeping the youth and community occupied with various sport codes and implored the community to take pride in the new facility.
