We have worked hard, harder than any other province, to create an enabling environment for the private sector, and for the markets, to drive economic growth and job creation, and to back business in the Western Cape.
And Wesgro play an important role in this effort by attracting direct investment, by growing exports, by marketing destinations, and by boosting air access in the Western Cape.
And, as published in their 2018/19 annual report, not only have they achieved their targets, but they have also exceeded a number of their targets.
We are proud to announce that, during the 2018/19 financial year, Wesgro:
- helped facilitate R10,73 billion into the Western Cape’s economy; and
- assisted in generating a total of 3 938 new jobs in the Western Cape.
Which is incredible work and I would like to congratulate Tim Harris and his team at Wesgro on their achievement.
We will, of course, continue to work hard to create an enabling environment for the private sector, and the markets, to drive economic growth and job creation in the Western Cape.
We have a lot to be proud of, but there is still more work to do, and we are focused, even in this time where many people have lost hope, or who have lost trust in government, on actually “getting stuff done” in the Western Cape.
