MyEstate mobile office drives service delivery in top gear

18 Nov 2019 in Where We Govern

The MyEstate mobile office was first rolled out nearly two years ago by the City’s Human Settlements Directorate to bring services closer to tenants who are living at Council Rental Housing in areas where there is no conventional facility nearby.

The office-on-wheels generally renders various tenancy management services such as logging service requests on behalf of the tenants, assisting residents with rent relief applications, helping with Housing Database queries and new applications, completing lease agreements and making arrangements for rental accounts in arrears. Members of staff also assist with general enquiries.

‘Reaching this 10 000 service request and query milestone confirms that there is a need for this mobile office in our communities. This service plays a vital role for our tenants as this affords them the opportunity to discuss their housing-related queries, be it linked to their rental accounts, service requests, or future housing opportunities.

‘We are very pleased to see that it is fulfilling its purpose of making services more accessible to the City’s tenants as often tenants may not have the means to get to a municipal office for assistance. The City’s Human Settlements Directorate would like to thank our tenants who have been using the service that the MyEstate mobile office has to offer,’ said Councillor Booi.

The MyEstate mobile office has a monthly schedule of visits to various areas across the metro including Hout Bay, Parkwood, Mitchells Plain, Langa, Bellville South and Macassar.

‘Leading up to the festive season, tenants are encouraged to see when the MyEstate mobile office will be visiting their area to ensure that their queries are attended to before the holidays. Going forward, we will continue to drive this MyEstate service so that our tenants can be educated about housing matters and are able access services that are almost on their doorstep,’ said Councillor Booi.
