Friday, 24 January 2020, the Acting Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane, Cllr Abel Tau, visited Soshanguve and Louwlardia in accordance with his promise to accelerate service delivery by unlocking bureaucracy.
Louwlardia residents have endured sporadic power outages which undoubtedly have a negative effect on peaceful residential living and optimal business operations.
To ensure that power outages are dealt with as a matter of urgency, a 600 meter
cable is being laid with additional measures to mitigate risks such as cable theft and
vandalism.
Furthermore, ongoing capacity assessment is being done for a new substation in the
area to meet growing electricity demand. The completion date of the project is 31st
January 2020.
Cllr Tau proceeded to Soshanguve where residents have historically been neglected
by the ANC government under the previous administration.
The shoddy condition of roads and inadequate stormwater infrastructure is the
unpleasant reality of residents who are often the worst affected during floods.
As promised, the DA-led administration has unlocked the culture of bureaucracy to
ensure that we respond to the needs of residents through the following projects:
Ward 36
Cllr Tau is happy to report that 1,27 road upgrade from gravel to tar in Ward 36 is
complete. Other upgrades in the ward include 500 meters of stormwater upgrades
and the construction of sidewalks, speed humps and road signs.
Ward 94
2,2 kilometer road upgrade from gravel to tar
1,9 kilometer stretch of stormwater upgrades
The completion date is December 2020 with 26 jobs created.
Ward 26
1,25 kilometer road upgrade from gravel to tar
1,55 kilometer stretch of stormwater upgrades
The completion date is in the current financial year with 11 jobs created.
Ward 11
Replacement of gabions is currently being done with an expected completion date of
February 2020.
This is testament to the current administration to put the interests of residents as a
priority and remain responsive and accountable to residents as a caring government.
The DA-led administration looks forward to the completion of these upgrades to
demonstrate that indeed the accelerated service delivery mandate is put into action.
