City’s MoU with ERWAT to alleviate Hammanskraal water crisis

The Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane, Cllr Stevens Mokgalapa, is pleased to
report that the City and Ekurhuleni Water Care Company (ERWAT) have signed a
MoU that will benefit residents of Hammanskraal and other localities.

This MoU illustrates the DA-led administration’s effort to eradicate the water crisis
which is most apparent in Hammanskraal.

The agreement between CoT and ERWAT is that they’ll assist with refurbishing and
upgrading critical waste water treatment plants, namely Rooiwal, Sunderland Ridge,
Baviaanspoort and Klipgat.

It’s no secret that the DA-led administration found historical negligence of service
delivery from the uncaring previous ANC administration.

This misfortune has left residents with the impression that this administration has
forgotten them, which could not be further from the truth.

Safe and adequate water supply is a basic right that is enshrined in our Constitution,
one that Mayor Mokgalapa will protect by all means necessary.

“It’s a mystery why the Hammaskraal water crisis was ignored by consecutive ANC
administrations since the advent of democracy,” said Mayor Mokgalapa after his
meeting with the ERWAT chairperson.

This administration will continue to find sustainable solutions for the benefit of
residents.
