The Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane, Cllr Stevens Mokgalapa, conducted
site visits at Centurion Taxi Rank, Phomolong Informal Settlement, Pienaarspoort
and Nellmapius X22 today.

This is in accordance with the DA-led administration’s commitment to accelerate
service delivery by unlocking bureaucracy.

“I’m pleased to report that Centurion Taxi Rank is 95% complete, the investment has
brought the City a state-of-the-art facility. This is evidence of what’s possible with
public-private partnerships,” said Mayor Mokgalapa.

The facility located opposite Centurion Mall will house offices for taxi associations,
22 informal kiosks for traders, public toilets with over 150 taxi bays.

Mayor Mokgalapa proceeded to Phomolong Informal Settlement and Pienaarspoort
where 1063 and 2832 stands are in the process of allocating stands and electrifying
the areas in different phases.

This means thousands of families will have increased access to the essential basic
services, access to housing and electricity. This is one of the ways the DA-led
administration demonstrates a commitment to restoring dignity to residents.

The date of completion at Phomolong is June 2020; the completion date at
Pienaarspoort in May 2020.

Lastly, the Mayor visited Nellmapius Extension 22 where construction of water
reticulation for 390 stands is currently at 70% to completion.

The site was abuzz with activity, indicating that all workers and contractors were
working in unison to ensure that the October 2020 deadline is adhered to.

Having clearly satisfied himself, Mayor Mokgalapa expressed gratitude to MMC’s
who accompanied him as well as officials who are ensuring that strict timelines are
adhered to so no delays impede urgent service delivery.

“A total of 34 jobs have been created from these projects, this is food on the table for
families who face the reality of poverty and joblessness. This is the legacy that the
DA-led administration is committed to, not the neglect and poor service delivery
shown by the previous ANC administration,” said Mayor Mokgalapa before his
departure.

Indeed, monitoring progress of capital projects throughout the City is part of the
change this administration has implemented.
