West Coast District Municipality in partnership with Gift of the Givers donated sanitary pads to 45 schools in the West Coast region. Research proved that girls refrain from attending school when they menstruate because many of them cannot afford sanitary pads. The objective of donating more than 3500 sanitary pads to schools is to reduce the absenteeism rate of girls by assisting with sanitary pads and education and awareness.
