The Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith, accompanied by the Executive Mayor, Dan Plato, visited Hanover Park yesterday where they joined  58 Learner Law Enforcement officers(LLEO) at an orientation programme.

The officers were joined by seven inspectors and one senior inspector and will be deployed in Hanover Park to assist enforcement agencies with crime prevention.

The orientation programme is part of their training phase for the month of October. Once deployed, the officers will enforce by-laws and focus on crime prevention, which will include stop and searches and house searches in conjunction with the South African Police Service.
