The City of Tshwane’s Regional Operations and Coordination department has successfully cut over 34 million square meters of grass since the new administration came into power in November 2020.
Since we assumed office, we prioritized resources to the grass cutting teams which had
effectively being neglected during 2020. We are working hard to catch up the backlog of
uncut grass that we inherited across the municipality.
When the new political leadership was elected in November 2020 after the period where the city had been under administration, we immediately pushed for the appointment of additional contractors to make sure we deliver on this core mandate and get our city looking neat and tidy.
We have we cut more than 30 million square meters of grass in just 4 months. That is an
area larger than 4000 soccer fields. This has included parks, cemeteries, pavements, and
various other open public spaces.
As we address the backlogs that we inherited we will also prioritise a sustainable level of service to our residents so that we never again reach the point where our areas are
neglected.
Real front-line service delivery is possible with dedicated political leadership and teamwork.
Our teams are working hard to make a measurable and visible difference in our
communities that will ensure our Capital City is a place our residents can be proud of.
