Alderman Grant Twigg, Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Management, today handed over certificates to Ward 16 Business Forum members, who recently participated in the Small Business Skills Development Training programme.
The Ward 16 Business Forum, which is part of Subcouncil 22 was established in 2019 with the aim to improve and promote small businesses within Subcouncil 22.
As part of the City’s efforts to support and empower small businesses, the Ward 16 Councillor, Jerome Fitz, together with the Business Forum members, identified leadership training needs to capacitate its members with the necessary skills. One of these interventions was the Small Business Skills Development Training, which took place on 8 and 19 May 2021 at the Subcouncil Offices in Kuils River.
‘Small Business Fora play an important and valuable role in the City – both in representing the interests of traders and members in engagements with the City and other stakeholders, and in improving services to members,’ said Alderman Twigg during the ceremony.
Training topics included Conflict Resolution and Management Techniques, Communication Skills and Stakeholder Engagement.
‘This training is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to build a stronger and more sustainable informal sector leadership and improve the communication and collaboration between informal sector associations and the City,’ said Alderman Twigg.
