Knysna Municipality has expanded its fleet worth R 6 427 282, 49 by the acquisition of new
vehicles that will assist in rendering efficient and effective services to Greater Knysna
communities.
Knysna Executive Mayor, Levael Davis was delighted to receive the latest addition of
municipal vehicles on Friday, 14 January 2022 at the Loerie Park Sports Grounds.
He said, “Obtaining these new vehicles will address the challenges we have been
experiencing with the aging fleet and the constant breakdowns. This is an investment for
Council and we will ensure that we deliver services efficiently.”
The latest addition to the fleet comprises a Wood Chipper, 11 LDVs, a digger loader, and eight
motorcycles.
There is a contract in place with a service provider to maintain and service the vehicles. They
also come with a tracking system to monitor the vehicles and the driving behaviour.
Infrastructure Services Portfolio Chairperson, Councillor Peter Bester said, “Increasing our
fleet will improve service delivery. What is equally important is the maintenance of the vehicles,
consequential management, and accountability from our staff.”
