Last month, the City of Tshwane, through the Public Employment Programme,
successfully launched its second recruitment drive for over 6 000 jobseekers.
To ensure that the recruitment process is fair, the City used its lottery system
(electronic random draw) to facilitate the selection of jobseekers registered on our
Expanded Public Works Programme database.
In an effort to ensure that these job opportunities reach a wide range of communities,
the applicants were drawn from a variety of different wards and regions. The selected
applicants will work on a variety of projects that are aimed at addressing urban
development challenges.
During the first recruitment drive held in November 2021, at least 4 000 applicants
were selected and have since signed their contracts.
The table below indicates the number of jobseekers required per region and the total
number of contracts signed to date, including the number of applicants selected during the second recruitment drive.
