As part of the City of Ekurhuleni’s back to basics programme, the MMC for Community Services Cllr Charlotte Zitha conducted an impromptu visit to Edenvale Clinic on Monday to ensure that the health facility is appropriately run.
Accompanied by Mpho Mashego and Busi Mhlanga, who are Chief Pharmacists and Acting Facility Manager respectively at the facility, MMC Zitha inspected the pharmacy checking for any expired medicine on the shelves and proper storage of vaccines.
“Vaccines must be stored in specific conditions to avoid degradation, usually defined specifically by the manufacturer. I am pleased to have observed that those conditions are adhered to,” said the MMC.
During the visit Cllr Zitha emphasised that patients should also adhere to the storage requirements of medicines and take their treatment as advised by their healthcare providers.
The unannounced visit to the Edenvale Clinic is one of many visits the MMC undertakes across the City to ensure residents receive the best health care according to the Batho Pele principles.
