Beneficiaries and their families in Roosendal, Delft started their week with a celebration, after receiving their title deeds from the City of Cape Town’s Human Settlement’s Directorate. Today, 8 June 2022, the City handed over 11 title deeds to beneficiaries and will hand over an additional 53 over the coming weeks.
The City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi and senior officials in the Human Settlements Directorate shared this very special moment with the 11 Roosendal title deed beneficiaries, including Mrs Kathleen Brown, 65, who celebrated the day with her son Mark.
In the past six months, the City handed over title deeds in Khayelitsha, Belhar, Mfuleni as well as Morningstar, and will continue to hand over many more across the metro.
‘This will bring the number to over 100 title deeds in Roosendal alone. We once again thank the teams in Human Settlements who have made this day possible and we look forward to assisting many more beneficiaries in the months to come. This is a testament to the City’s ongoing commitment to redress, tenure security and economic opportunities for residents.
‘It is an honour for us to join residents on their special day. Through the City’s housing and title deed programmes, we are continuing to secure dignity for communities by providing affordable housing opportunities to qualifying residents and by handing over title deeds to beneficiaries. We are also speeding up the City’s title deeds handover programme and we will hand over an additional 53 title deeds to the remaining Roosendal residents very soon,’ said Councillor Booi.
