The Democratic Alliance in the Western Cape congratulates the four drone tech start-ups that completed the Saldanha Bay Industrial Development Zone’s (IDZ) Investment Readiness Accelerator Programme last week Thursday.
This shows that this provincial government is truly creating an enabling environment for the tech ecosystem to grow as the programme provides tech start-ups with the necessary tools and skills to build sustainable businesses and prepare them to engage and attract investors.
Between 2011 and 2021 alone, the Western Cape received R103.13 billion in Foreign Direct Investment into our technology sector.
To further acknowledge the efforts of these start-ups, I will be submitting a motion congratulating each of the four businesses during the Provincial Parliament this Thursday – commending this significant achievement. The motion will then be delivered to those acknowledged.
The four start-ups that participated in the programme include Taurus Energy, WIPO Wireless Power, RBI Drone Tech, and Delta-Scan.
Each start-up was selected to complete the Investment Readiness Accelerator Programme at the Drone Tech Showcase pitching event in 2021. The Programme started in February this year and the four businesses were allowed to again pitch their businesses to potential investors at the graduation event last Thursday.
Through initiatives such as the Investment Readiness Accelerator Programme, the DA-run Western Cape Government and the Saldanha IDZ continue to position the province as the tech hub of Africa.
