In a reply to a DA parliamentary question, the Provincial Department of Human Settlements disclosed that there are currently 43 housing projects underway across the Western Cape with a combined R659 million having been spent on these projects thus far out of a budget of over R1.6 billion. These active developments will create thousands of housing opportunities for residents across the Western Cape.
In the coming months, the Western Cape Standing Committee on Human Settlements will visit some of the projects to evaluate their progress. Some of the developments currently underway include:
- City of Cape Town: Forest Village, Airport Precinct Infill Sites
- Winelands District: Worcester Transhex, Paarl Vlakkeland
- Overberg District: Hermanus Mount Pleasant Infills, Swellendam Railton
- Garden Route District: Qolweni/Bossiesgif, Syferfontein Asla
- West Coast District: Citrusdal, Vredendal
