The DA wishes to appoint a dynamic, self-motivated and goal driven individual, who will be based at our offices in Parliament. The successful candidate will report to the Parliamentary Research Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for

  • Supporting the Party’s performance on Bills before Parliament
  • Providing basic research and procedural support to members of the caucus

Prospective applicants must meet the following requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in law essential
  • Relevant post-graduate qualification in law, economics, finance, public policy or governance
  • Practical legal experience advantageous
  • Firm understanding and knowledge of the South African political environment
  • Ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of the role and processes of Parliament
  • Strong writing skills
  • Previous research experience advantageous
  •  Computer literacy and strong administrative skills essential
  • Proficiency in more than one language advantageous
  • Ability to work fast, accurately and creatively under tight timelines
  • Systematic, comprehensive and displaying excellent attention to detail
  • Commitment to the principles, policies and programme of action of the Democratic Alliance
  •  Outcomes-orientated, not simply task-orientated
  • Willingness to go the extra mile, which may include working long and irregular hours, weekends, and public holidays where necessary
