The DA wishes to appoint a dynamic, self-motivated and goal driven individual, who will be based at our Federal Head Office in Cape Town. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Policy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for
- Contributing to the research, consulting, and writing of DA policy, as well as those documents and position papers that flow from it
- Giving practical effect to the DA’s vision of an Open Opportunity Society for All as well as the values, principles, and ideals on which it is founded
- Understanding and applying the Party’s strategy as it relates to the DA’s policy programme
Prospective applicants must meet the following requirements
- Postgraduate qualification required, ideally in social sciences, public policy, or economics, with courses in statistics and/or econometrics
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a research environment
- Must have previously published articles or possess other evidence of writing ability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to conceptualise, analyse, interpret, synthesise, and present complex information (qualitative and quantitative)
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Strong computer literacy and administrative skills essential
- Proficiency in more than one language advantageous
- Displays excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work with large amounts of information in a systematic fashion under tight deadlines
- Outcomes-orientated, not simply task-orientated
- A strong commitment to the principles, policies and programme of action of the DA
- Self-motivated, self-starting and ability to work independently
