Being a DA Councillor is an immense responsibility, shaping the future of your community, and your town. As a public representative, you’ll be involved in:

  • Legislative Work: Contributing to Municipal Council decisions and processes.
  • Council Committees: Overseeing local government functions.
  • Community Leadership: Engaging with your local community, organising initiatives, and shaping public opinion.
  • Civil Society Engagement: Cultivating a collaborative, inclusive culture in your area.
  • Ward Representation: Advocating for residents and businesses within the Council and keeping them informed.
  • Local Issue Management: Resolving service delivery challenges and providing ongoing updates.
  • DA Party Commitment: Leading at the local level with active party presence, voter interaction, and political engagement.

This is the beginning of your journey to becoming a DA Candidate in the upcoming Local Government Election. The process consists of several steps:

  1. Candidate Nomination: The first step is applying to be considered.
  2. Candidate Screening: If you pass the initial screening (based on your CV), you’ll move to the next step.
  3. Candidate Selection:  In this phase you will undergo interviews and written tests.
  4. Selection Panel: A panel of experts will determine your rank on the candidate list.
  5. Election: If ranked, you’ll stand for election and potentially represent your community as a DA Councillor.
