Jacques Smalle was born in Makhado, Limpopo and speaks Afrikaans, English and TshiVenda.
Jacques is a founding member of the DA, formerly the Democratic Party. He started his political career as an activist in the late ’90s assisting vulnerable children in the province, especially children in Oudtshoorn who suffer from under the unjust legacy of apartheid. To make his voice heard, Jacques became a DA councillor in 2000 which allowed him to give inputs on various issues related to local government and the well-being of the community.
Jacques is currently serving his third term as the provincial leader for Limpopo and he is currently a member of the Provincial Legislature in Limpopo. He also sits on the Agriculture, COGHSTA, Education, Joint Committee and SCOPA respectively.
Jacques’ vision for Limpopo is to ensure the Party becomes the official opposition, getting the ANC below 50% as well. Jacques wants to see the DA in Limpopo co-governing five municipalities come 2021.
Jacques Smalle currently lives in Makhado with his two sons, Juan (17) and Pierre (20), and during his spare time he enjoys taking on DIY projects.
