Resides in Brits since 1976, married to Daleen, they have three daughters and six grandchildren. Leon served on two School Governing Bodies – Pansdrif Primary – 10 years ( 6 years as Chairperson) and Hoërskool Brits – 12 years ( 9 years as Chairperson). He is an active member of the Brits community and a member of the NG Church
He served as a Councillor from 1995 till 2014. He was elected as a Member of Parliament in 2014 and 2019. Leon have 25 years experience as a Public Representative and is the Constituency Head of Madibeng. He serves as the Shadow Minister Water and Sanitation. He was the Deputy Provincial Leader of North West from 2017 – 2020
