On Wednesday, 19 June, municipal by-elections in KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape saw exceptional results.
In Ward 22 KwaDukuza Municipality, we retained the seat we won in the 2016 Local Government Elections and grew from 88.72% in 2016 to 94.03% in this election!
And in Ward 21 City of Cape Town Metro Municipality, we also retained the seat we won in the 2016 municipal elections, winning 92.08% of the votes cast!
“Passionate”, “trustworthy” and “respected in the community”, newly elected KwaDukuza Councillor, Privi Makhan, will be an asset to this North Coast community. Privi is a successful realtor who has served as a dedicated activist in her community since she was young. She heads up a local sanitary project that strives to provide sanitary pads to local schools, SAPS Trauma Units and neighbouring townships.
City of Cape Town Councillor, Hendri Terblanche, will continue to work with the municipality to ensure that basic service delivery is always up to a high standard, and that this Cape community is safe and secure. With a bachelor’s degree in Accounting to his name, Hendri was endorsed by Premier Alan Winde and the Eversdal Ratepayers’ Association, which he founded.
