My Priorities

  • Power Outages are caused by cable theft and stolen fuses.
    – I have already met with City Power, the risk control department, the JMPD, the CPF and local security companies to find ways of combatting this issue.
    – Since then, the CPF caught a perpetrator who was handed over to the police.
    – I am also engaging with the SAPS to conduct raids on scrap yards that may be buying stolen cables and fuses.
  • Illegal Mining is a big concern for residents of Rispark.
    – Illegal miners (Zama Zamas) are using underground explosives, damaging the infrastructure.
    – The DA and I will fight for all residents and to put an end to this illegal and dangerous activity. We are driving a petition in the ward and with the help of the community, we will urge the authorities from all spheres of Government, to deal with this issue.
  • Potholes are safety hazards for our motorists, and I will work to have our roads maintained.
    – I invited the Johannesburg Roads Agency Depot Manager for a drive around the ward to show him roads that were in a particularly bad state.
    – After this, a number of potholes have been fixed and some of the roads have been patched.
  • Streetlights are not working in some parts of our ward, leaving it in darkness at night.
    – I will continue to dedicate time in the evenings to drive around and make lists of streets and addresses where streetlights are not working.
    – I have already logged issues and gave a list and reference numbers to City Power’s Streetlights manager to get this issue resolved.
