What I love about SA

Are you 18 or younger? Do you have a way with words? Do you love your country?

Enter the DA’s “What I love about SA” poetry competition and tell us, in a poem, what it is about South Africa that you love the most.

We are constantly bombarded with negative news and it becomes so easy for us to forget the good things about South Africa. It is exactly for this reason that the DA is doing something different this Heritage Day by celebrating our unique country. The DA wants to celebrate what makes us all unique.

It thus gives us great pleasure to announce our “What I love about SA” poetry competition.

The completion has two age categories 6 to 13 years & 14 to 18 years.  There are great cash prizes to be won in each of the two categories. 1st place winners will receive R 2000, 2nd place winners will receive R1000 and 3rd place winners will receive R500.  The poems of all the winners will also be posted on the DA’s website and all social media pages

Winning poems will be announced on Heritage day and poems can be written in any of the 11 official languages. There is no prescribed length and we encourage you to be as creative as possible.

Remember if you are under the age of 18, you need to have your parents’ permission to enter the competition. Entries can be done by submitting your information and poem on this webpage.

The entries will close on Sunday 11 September at midnight.

Good luck and we can’t wait to read your poem!
