The above position now exists within the Democratic Alliance. The DA is looking to recruit a self-motivated and goal driven individual reporting directly to the Executive Director: Communications.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the efficient and smooth running of the Legislative Unit in Parliament;
  • Ensuring that the Chief Whips Office functions effectively and efficiently to drive issues in Parliament;
  • Ensuring the efficient administration of the DA in Parliament;
  • Operationally managing and coordinating the Issues Driving Unit, Press Office and Parliamentary Operations

The Democratic Alliance seeks confident, energetic and strategic individuals in Gauteng – Johannesburg. The successful candidates will be key members of the DA’s Provincial Operational Team and will report directly to the Regional Constituency Coordinators with an indirect reporting line to the Provincial Field Operations Manager and the Provincial Campaign Director.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing and assuming responsibility for the design and development of ward profiles for the wards in their identified areas
  • Effectively coordinating, guiding and managing all political activities and ensuring that they are operationally executed in accordance with a pre-designed programme of action
  • Working alongside the Regional Constituency Coordinator to identify issues that affect voters and designing campaigns to address these issues
  • Implementing the most effective methods of communicating with voters with a view of establishing permanent presence in all identified areas and building relationships of trust with new voters
  • Establishing and sustaining political activity designed to create a permanent and positive presence in the identified areas
  • Promoting the brand of the DA and establishing the DA as a viable political choice in the identified area
  • Effectively implementing and coordinating all Party campaigns in the identified areas
  • Establishing and coordinating Party volunteer and activist programmes in the identified areas and ensuring that branches are fully operational entities within the Party

Provincial Finance Manager- KwaZulu-Natal

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Database Developer- Cape Town

The DA is looking to recruit a self-motivated and goal driven individual at their Federal Head Office based in Cape Town. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director: Campaign Technology.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing backend systems, with a focus on systems related to the DA’s voter database and geographic information;
  • Performing basic data analyses and calculations;
  • Developing scripts for the import and export of data and the generation of reports;
  • Producing maps, graphs and other data visualisations. 

Prospective applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience with PostgreSQL, or similar SQL database
  • Experience with GIS technology, preferably PostGIS and QGIS
  • Experience with Javascript and Node.js, or experience with other modern scripting language (e.g. Python) and a willingness to learn Javascript
  • Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
    – Linux server administration
    – Web frontend development (HTML5, CSS, Angular, React)
