The Democratic Alliance seeks a confident, energetic and strategic individual in Gauteng. The successful candidate will be a key member of the DA’s Provincial Team and will report directly to the Provincial Support Services Manager with an indirect reporting line to the National PDMS Manager and the Provincial Managing Director.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that PDMS is implemented uniformly and consistently in the province and that resolutions taken at a federal level are communicated to all Public Representatives in the province.

Prospective applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • The preferred candidate must be completely outcomes orientated and not simply task orientated

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing and assuming responsibility for the design and development of ward profiles for the wards in their identified areas
  • Effectively coordinating, guiding and managing all political activities and ensuring that they are operationally executed in accordance with a pre-designed programme of action
  • Working alongside the Regional Constituency Coordinator to identify issues that affect voters and designing campaigns to address these issues
  • Implementing the most effective methods of communicating with voters with a view of establishing permanent presence in all identified areas and building relationships of trust with new voters
  • Establishing and sustaining political activity designed to create a permanent and positive presence in the identified areas
  • Promoting the brand of the DA and establishing the DA as a viable political choice in the identified area
  • Effectively implementing and coordinating all Party campaigns in the identified areas
  • Establishing and coordinating Party volunteer and activist programmes in the identified areas and ensuring that branches are fully operational entities within the Party
  • Overseeing campaigns, including by-elections as designated
  • Overall, maximising the DA’s share of the vote in the identified area

Senior Issue Driving Researcher – Parliament

The above position now exists within the Democratic Alliance. The DA is looking to recruit a self-motivated and goal driven individual, reporting directly to the Manager: Issue Driving Unit.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Becoming subject experts on their assigned portfolios through conducting comprehensive research;
  • Providing comprehensive research, specifically on finance related portfolios;
  • Proactively identify issues and identify new angles with a view of driving them in the media;
  • Proactively identify relevant research and policy linked to their assigned portfolios with the aim of driving strategic issues in the media, and maximizing communication outcomes on these said issues;
  • Liaising with the Press Office, Legislative Unit, Chief Whip’s office and Policy Unit to ensure that issues are effectively driven across all platforms.

Prospective applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • BCom and or a degree majoring in Economics
  • Firm understanding and knowledge of the South African political environment
  • Strong writing skills
  • Previous experience in media and research advantageous
  • Computer literacy essential
