The electrification of 99 homes in Area 8C, Zone 6, Thembalethu have been finalised in the heart of winter as part of urgent electrification projects in the Upgrading of Informal Settlements Programme. Our electricians are currently busy with the pairing of the split meters for the few remaining houses to ensure all homes are switched on.
A large portion of the 2021/22 available budget of R1,1 million was prioritised by Council for the urgent electrification projects. The cost per structure for electrification is approximately R20 000 which includes a prepaid meter.
