24 Feb 2023 in Where We Govern

The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi and officials in the Human Settlements Directorate handed over 10 Breaking New Ground (BNG) opportunities to qualifying beneficiaries at the R44,2 million Belhar Pentech housing project on Friday, 17 February 2023. Once the project is complete, it will provide 340 housing opportunities to some of the metro’s most vulnerable residents.

‘It was a special day for the City as we celebrated the handover of keys to beneficiaries on Friday last week. We are committed to enabling redress and transformation and we will continue to hand over keys to new homeowners to qualifying beneficiaries over the coming months in areas across the city at our various projects.

‘The City thanks the community for their support as well as the City contractors and teams for their dedication and hard work and for the role they play in helping us provide homes to some of the poor and most vulnerable residents of the city,’ said Councillor Booi.

Beneficiaries of all City housing projects are selected in accordance with the City’s Housing Allocation Policy and the City’s Housing Needs Register to ensure that housing opportunities are made available in a fair and transparent manner that prevents queue jumping and to those who qualify for housing as per the South African legislation.
