Formal and informal business entities that attended the Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) open days have been encouraged to visit the City’s Customer Care Centres (CCC) for assistance in legitimising their businesses.

During the open days which started on Tuesday, 18 October and will run until Thursday, 03 November, business people were informed about the bouquet of services offered at customer care centres including the application process for trading permits and business licenses.

According to Sithembiso Garane, a senior manager for community enterprise development in the city, trading permits and business licenses are required by law before a business can operate.

The city’s CCCs also have offices with dedicated personnel from the Environmental Health Department who assist businesses with inspection of their premises to ensure compliance to environmental health standards and the issuing of the Certificate of Acceptability.

Hundreds of people have responded positively to the ESD open days.

“This has been a great experience and the information shared was critical,” said Thelma Shabangu from KwaThema after the session.
