Creating a people-centred society Madiba would be proud of
The Western Cape has seen over a decade of good governance since the DA was elected to government in 2009.
Since Helen Zille’s two terms in office were up in May 2019, Premier Alan Winde has carried the torch.
“In the last decade, we have created more than 500 000 jobs, which is why we have the lowest real unemployment rate in South Africa.”
– DA Western Cape Premier, Alan Winde
A keen businessman, Premier Winde, will keep fuelling the Western Cape’s position as the fastest-growing economy in the country, with a special focus on values, responsibility and safety.
Our plan of action
Create opportunities for growth and jobs
We are committed to creating more jobs and more economic opportunities for our people, so that they may uplift themselves and their families. We want to see a job in every home and work toward the 2.5% growth rate needed to achieve this.
Empower all residents to live with dignity
We will ensure that each and every resident is able to live a dignified life, and that as we move from generation to generation, our people become more self-empowered. We will build on our commitment to provide quality education and healthcare to every resident.
Make lives easier
We have a plan to make sure that no matter where you live, and where you work, your life is made easier; building more homes and public gardens, and taking the management of the rail system away from the national government – amongst other initiatives.
Keep you safe
We strive to ensure that no matter where you call home, you live free from fear. This involves enhancing our own enforcement capacity; building safety partnerships; bringing together Neighbourhood Watches and Community Policing Forums; developing social infrastructure; and reducing the harmful impacts of alcohol and drug abuse.
